Keeping your car clean at all times is beneficial to your health, especially if you spend most of your time in your car. There are many reasons why both the inside and outside of your car should be clean. First and foremost, allergens and other airborne contaminants are likely to accumulate in your car over time. They can cause respiratory problems such as sneezes and coughs, which is why you should clean your interiors regularly. Secondly, washing your vehicle provides a comfortable environment and minimizes your stress during commutes.

Here are simple practices you can adopt to keep your car interior clean.

Wipe the surfaces regularly

Ideally, you should keep pre-moistened auto wipes in your car at all times. They come in handy for a quick rub down of the dashboard, steering wheel, glove compartment, and all the minor parts in between. Wiping your car’s surfaces regularly eliminates dust and keeps germs away, especially during this corona season.

Keep a trash can in your car.

You should always keep a small trash can in your car, so you don’t have to collect all the trash later. It can be in the form of a plastic bag or a travel trash container. Find a designated spot to place it so that it doesn’t spread all over your car. Also, always remember to take it out when full.

Always deodorize your car.

No matter how much you clean your car, some smells just won’t go away. An underrated way to keep your car smelling fresh is to use a chlorine bomb for car that removes odors from the carpet, seats, glove compartment, behind the dash, etc. A chlorine bomb sucks out the smell from every part o your car that other products cannot reach. It is ideal, especially when dealing with odors from cigarette smoke, mold, pet smells, and any other unwanted odors.

Keep up with car maintenance.

Keeping up with your car maintenance is a part of keeping your car interiors clean. That means you won’t experience mechanical issues that cause odor build-up in your car. You also need to ensure that your air filter is replaced regularly to work efficiently in deodorizing your car.

Vacuum the seats

You should vacuum your car sears from time to time and more often if you have kids and pets who leave stains on the seats. You can creatively use an old toothbrush to get the sticky dirt in the corners or cracks. It is advisable to keep paper towels in the car to clean spills and messes as they occur. Remember that the longer you wait for spills to dry, the more work you will do to clean them.

Always remember to shake out mats.

The floor of your car is exposed to more dirt because it holds everyone’s dirty shoes.  Thankfully mats are there to hold all the dirt. But always remember to shake them out, especially if you go longer between vacuuming.

The takeaway

Follow the in and out rule in your car. Whenever anything comes in, such as toys and jackets, always take them out as you leave the car to avoid junk accumulation.
